When we think about the opioid epidemic - or any epidemic for that matter, it feels too big to take on. Where do we start? How do we prevent overdoses? What legislation needs to be in place to course-correct? How can I prevent this from happening to anyone else?

It's overwhelming.

So, let's start from a different perspective. Let's start from the inside-out. What do people who are already dealing with addiction need to help them on their road to recovery?

The short answer? Stamps and colored pencils.

Before you call BS, let me explain. I recently sat down with the head of outreach for Maryhaven's MASC program to learn more about the program and needs of the facility. While asking big picture questions, I found out something even more eye-opening. The staff takes turns buying stamps for those staying at the facility who wish to contact loved ones. And one of their biggest needs (other than awareness and funding, of course) is colored pencils for patients to use as a creative outlet during their stay.

At that point, it was a "say no more" moment for me. And with that, I'm excited to share the first SeaqHelp fundraiser since it's formal inception. For this fundraiser, I'm seaqing out donations of any amount, which can be used to buy stamps and colored pencils, as well as donation of the actual items themselves.
